Mattel Wants to Become Sustainable by 2030

Mattel, Inc., El Segundo, CA/USA, is launching new products derived from bio-based plastic line. The pre-school construction product Mega Bloks, will now feature three preschool building sets derived from bio-based resins.

Recyclable Packaging

The building sets have Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified packaging that is fully recyclable. They will be presented at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany (29 January to 2 February 2020).

Mega is the second product that Mattel has introduced as part of its recently announced goal to achieve 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastics materials in both its products and packaging by 2030.

    In a research project, Fraunhofer IPA, Tecnaro and Dambeck investigated orthotic and prosthetic devices made from bio-based materials. The bio-based knee prosthesis successfully withstood the fatigue test according to ISO 10328. The 3D printing of prostheses and biomaterials also proved highly promising.   more
