Arburg Celebrates 25 Years in Malaysia
On 15 September 2017, the Arburg subsidiary in Malaysia celebrated its 25th anniversary with around 150 invited guests. Managing Partner Juliane Hehl and Managing Director Sales Gerhard Böhm, also attended the festivities. As part of the evening event, Juliane Hehl presented the traditional Arburg anniversary sculpture. Another highlight was the presentation of the "Arburg Customer Awards 2017".
Juliane Hehl thanked the subsidiary team on behalf of the owner families and the entire Arburg parent company. In recognition of 25 years of successful work and as encouragement for the coming decades, she presented the anniversary sculpture to the subsidiary manager, Visu Nagappa and head of the ASEAN region, David Chan. Managing Director Sales Gerhard Böhm also expressed his thanks to the staff and, in particular, to the customers for the trust they had placed in Arburg and for the successful cooperation over the past years: "This confirms that we chose the right path decades ago and our ongoing investments in this market have paid dividends."
Arburg's activities in Malaysia began as early as 1989 with the sale of the first two Allrounders. As the Malaysian market developed very quickly and positively in the subsequent years, Arburg opened a subsidiary of its own in 1992. Just four years later, the company moved to new premises, doubling the usable area to 250 square meters and expanding the range of services, including the telephone hotline, the expert service technicians, the spare parts store, the showroom and the training options available at the Malaysian subsidiary.
Initially, Arburg's customers were mainly small family-run businesses that worked with between 10 and 20 machines. Over the past decades, many global players have also invested in Malaysia, with a view to produce plastic products there. The machine fleets now comprise between 50 and 100 Allrounders, enabling high-quality plastic parts to be produced for the packaging, medical technology and automotive industries, as well as for the electrical and electronics sector. Northern Malaysia in particular is increasingly developing into a center for medical technology, with the manufacture of disposable medical items and equipment.
