API, Mecaplast and Tecnostamp Create the Green Life Tire
Italian companies API SpA, manufacturer of elastomeric thermoplastic compounds, Tecnostamp srl., mold manufacturer, and Mecaplast s.a.s. have collaborated to design and create the "Green Life Tire", an innovative green alternative to the tires currently manufactured in vulcanized rubber.
The considerable and prolonged abrasion caused by the ground causes tires that are normally made in vulcanized rubber to wear down quickly. Green Life Tire, in addition to being 100% recyclable as it is made of polyurethane resin belonging to the Apilon 52 family created by API Spa, also presents a series of technical and functional advantages such as superior wear and tear resistance, and improved elasticity. Moreover, the Apilon 52 tire weighs from 20% to 50% less than conventional vulcanized rubber tires, and this translates into a lower fuel consumption in traction with consequential environmental benefits and energy and cost savings.
Launched in November 2012 at the EIMA International 2012 and winner at the Show of Technical Innovation, Green Life Tire confirms and strengthens the partnership between Emanuele Conti and Partners’ Mecaplast S.a.S. and API SpA in their quest to constantly create efficient solutions with a low environmental impact.
