AMI: Sabic Plans to Produce Metallocene PE
Speaking at the recent AMI Stretch and Shrink Film Conference in Barcelona Sabic Europe announced plans to include metallocenes within its portofolio by 2009. Penetration of metallocene PE has not developed as rapidly as some early participants in the market expected but they are starting to fulfil a growing role in the film market and particularly in the stretch film market. Driven by further cost and performance optimisation of the catalyst and material, the increasing economy of scale as well as the switch by film converters to more modern coextrusion capabilities, Sabic see metallocene PE usage growing higher than historic demand growth and that these materials will play an increasing role in the stretch film market.
