Altana: Growth in Wax Additives
Altana AG, Wesel, Germany, has finalized the contract to acquire Dick Peters B.V., Denekamp, Netherlands. The producer of wax additives for use in molds for the steel and mechanical engineering industries, adhesives and printing inks is part of the Swiss specialty chemicals company Clariant, and achieved sales of about EUR 24 million in 2007. Altana, via its BYK Additives & Instruments division, will acquire the majority of the wax additives business of around EUR 20 million, the remaining business will remain with Clariant. At the same time, Altana will take over the production site in Denekamp and its approximately 35 employees. Within the group, Dick Peters B.V. will be allocated to BYK Cera B.V., which is also located in the Netherlands. The purchase price is around EUR 17.5. The acquisition is pending approval by the cartel office.
