Addcomp/Solvay: Acquisition of Product Lines from Solvay
Addcomp Holland BV, Nijverdal/The Netherlands, a manufacturer ofpolymer-additive solutions for thermoplastic resins, announced it has acquired the entire Priex resins business formerly developed, marketed, and manufactured by Solvay S.A. in Belgium. The acquisition includes all manufacturing equipment (essentially a complete factory); all patents, tradenames, and internet domain names; and the global customer portfolio for the product lines. The product range consists of functionalized maleic anhydride-grafted polyolefin (MAgPO) homopolymers and copolymers, ionomers, and emulsions, which are used to modify and improve the properties of olefin-based polymers and composites (reinforced with glass or natural fibers), helping make these costeffective products capable of performing in more demanding applications.
The acquisition by Addcomp Holland of the Priex product family by Solvay S.A. of Belgium was completed 31 March 2008; the plant was moved in April and set up in May. Production started in May and Addcomp began offering product for sale in June.
