Moldex3D Global Innovation Talent Award 2018

Fifth Edition Shows Wide Range of Plastics Simulation Applications

With the Moldex3D Global Innovation Talent Award, CoreTech System Co., Ltd., Taiwan, honors the most innovative projects that have used Moldex3D to develop cost-effective solutions for plastics manufacturing challenges.

One of the winners, for example, is Pegatron, an electronics manufacturing service provider. The company took honors in the Company category for its project “Integration of Moldex3D and ANSYS for Insert Molding Analysis of a Tablet Bottom Base Case Cover.” In order to create slimmer, lighter tablet components, Pegatron team fully utilized the integration of Moldex3D injection molding simulation and ANSYS structural analysis to optimize mold designs, reduce shrinkage induced by fibers and validate the strength of the part, striking a perfect balance between product design and product strength.

Slovak University of Technology- Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (MTF STU) has been awarded First Prize in the Student category. The winning entry titled “Redesign of Injection Mould Cavity based on Reverse Warpage Profile” addressed the challenges of molding thick-walled automotive parts. Moldex3D’s accurate predictive capabilities for warpage enabled the team to explore possible solutions in the shortest amount of time and make timely adjustments to the mold before cutting the tool, achieving significant cost savings and better dimensional stability.

“The diversity and the quality of the entries we received this year were very impressive,” said Venny Yang, President of Moldex3D. “It demonstrates that the impact of simulation on the plastics manufacturing industry continues to grow, and many businesses have reached a certain level of maturity with plastics engineering simulation to enable faster design decision making processes so they can keep costs down and productivity up. We look forward to seeing more successes in the next Moldex3D Global Innovation Talent Award.”
