Plastic Becomes Tables and Benches
Recycled Plaswood Products
RPC bpi protec is one of four specialist business units within the RPC Group Plc, Rushden, UK. The producer of polythene film products has recently established a closed-loop recycling scheme at its Worcester site to capture surplus plastic packaging and turn it into second-life products.
Unused wicketted polythene (PE) bags and PE films are returned under the protec Reprocess Scheme, which links with its sister recycling division to create a variety of no maintenance and sustainable Plaswood products such as activity tables and benches. Plaswood is produced using 100% recycled polythene, diverting valuable waste from landfill and providing a realistic, long-lasting alternative to hardwood that itself can be fully recycled at the end of its use.
As part of the RPC bpi group, RPC bpi protec is an important recycler of PE films and claims to recycle over 85,000 tonnes each year.
