3rd European Symposium on Friction, Wear and Wear Protection
Conservation of energy and resources is one of the biggest challenges for society and industry. Modern tribology is one of the main cornerstones of reducing carbon emissions. However, friction and wear protection lacks of a systematic approach based on elemental mechanisms from materials science, physics and chemistry; materials and technologies needed in the near future may not be a simple extension of one which is in our hand now.
Following the successful 2008 and 2011 symposium the 3rd European Symposium on Friction, Wear and Wear Protection, taking place 6 – 8 May 2014 in Karlsruhe, Germany, belongs to a series of conferences held once every three years under the auspices of the technical committee "Materials aspects of tribology and machining" of the German Materials Society, DGM. The scope of the symposium covers all classes of materials, machining, production and lubrication technologies and targets at practitioners from industry as well as engineers and scientists.
The organisers invite prospective authors to submit an abstract for lectures or posters relating to the conference topics.
Conference Topics:
A: Wear resistant materials and coatings
B: Friction materials and linings (brakes, clutches)
C: Ultra-low friction materials and coatings
D: Modelling and computer simulation
E: Material-lubricant interactions and tribochemical effects
F: Ceramics
G: Polymers and PMCs
H: Surface modifications
I: Novel instrumentation and testing
K: Biomaterials
L: Nanotribology
