3B-the fibreglass company: Germanischer Lloyd Approval
3B-the fibreglass company, Battice, Belgium, has obtained Germanischer Lloyd (GL) approval for its newly developped SE2020 single-end rovings used mainly for the manufacturing of non-crimped fabrics used to make wind turbine blades.
Non crimped fabrics from SE2020 rovings are suitable for resin infusion or prepreg processes and benefit according to company information from 3B’s innovative and proprietory sizing technology focused on specific resin families, in this case epoxy. The resultant laminates offers a higher level of fatigue performance, superior inter fibre and interlaminar shear strengths, constituting a key solution for designers who need to develop the next generation of wind turbine blades.
