UBE Industries Expands Production in Spain

Current UBE plant in Castellón, Spain (© UBE Industries)

UBE Industries is investing in its UCE subsidiary (UBE Corporation Europe S.A.Unipersonal) and is expanding nylon production in Castellón, Spain. By expanding the plant, UCE’s annual production capacity will increase by 40,000 t as of 2018 and thus achieve a total volume of 70,000 t. The Japanese Group is thereby reacting to the steadily increasing demand for nylon that can be used in a variety of applications.

The new plant will use its own exclusive technology for manufac-turing diverse copolymers and nylons with low and high viscosity. These will be used for technical applications, such as in the automotive and food packaging sectors as well as for manufacturing monofilaments, fishing nets, technical components and much more.

Signs point to growth in the field of compound manufacturing as well. A completely separate division will also be created in Castellón for this purpose and will begin production as of August 2017. Delivery routes will thus become shorter, and the European origin of goods, which is important for some buyers, will consequently become available.

50 new jobs will be created in Spain – so that overall more than 500 employees will be working for UBE in Europe. There has been an increase of 25 % in the number of employees alone in the last five years.
