An Attritional Rendezvous

Particularly in sensitive production environments, self-lubricating high-performance plastics offer advantages over greases and oils. Because these materials are relatively expensive, a 2-phase lubricant system consisting of a POM core with a highly-filled PTFE surface layer seems practical. The first part of this study focuses on the mechanisms of action and the saving potentials of such a system.
