Packaging Materials: Biopolymers as a Sustainable Alternative?

As natural materials biopolymers are expected to solve the disposal problems of current plastic packaging. But can they really do this with no ifs and buts? What about competition with the food chain? Do they deliver the ecological, service and disposal advantages expected of them to their full extent? The following article attempts to answer these questions.
