Brabender is a leading manufacturer of instruments and equipment for testing raw materials used in research, development and industrial production in all areas of the plastics and rubber industries as well as in various sectors of the food and chemical industries. Brabender was founded in 1923 by Carl Wilhelm Brabender
and is part of the Brabender Group
, which employs around 450 people in various parts of the world. In addition, Brabender is represented worldwide by around 100 agencies in more than 130 countries.
As a partner to the global plastics and rubber industry, Brabender offers customized individual and modular solutions for rheology and extrusion on a laboratory scale, suitable peripheral equipment and equipment for special measuring tasks.
Brabender's product portfolio includes, among others:
Torque rheometers as table-top versions ( Plastograph model
) and as universal stationary drives ( Plasti-Corder Lab-Station model
) with suitable measuring mixer, single-screw or twin-screw extruder attachments.
Brabender Partner Network
: Exclusive area with brochures, videos, technical and scientific articles, application manuals, as well as opportunities for networking, knowledge expansion, exchange and interaction.
Brabender torque rheometers offer the possibility to operate different measuring attachments, e.g. measuring kneader, single-screw measuring extruder or twin-screw extruder (compounder). They supply the drive energy, register and control various parameters such as melt and control temperatures, speed and pressure.
The Plasti-Corder Lab-Station is particularly suitable for applications with high torque (up to 400 Nm) and speed requirements (up to 350 min-1). The Plastograph is a table-top model that is a cost-effective solution for less demanding torque and speed requirements.
The modular measuring mixers and extruders as attachments for Brabender torque rheometers are suitable for the realistic simulation of processes relevant for the production and processing of polymers and other plastic and plastifiable materials. In research, formulation development and sample preparation, reliable and meaningful results can be obtained even with small sample quantities.
A wide range of kneading blades, feeders, nozzles, screw elements and peripheral equipment is available for a wide variety of applications.
Brabender's compact single and twin screw extruders are a cost-effective alternative when a modular design is not required. They have an integrated motor and are therefore drive-independent.
The single-screw extruders KE 19 and KE 30 are suitable for throughputs of max. 5 and 15 kg respectively. Up to 20 kg/h can be processed with the Lab Compounder KETSE 20/40.
In combination with the large range of screws and die heads, Brabender stand-alone extruders are ideally suited for the development of new products.
The Brabender Absorptometer "C" is a table-top instrument with a torque measuring system for measuring the oil absorption number (OAN) of powdery materials. The measuring principle is based on the change in consistency of the powder during the absorption of oil.
The Brabender Elatest determines the density of polymers, especially of rubber and unvulcanized rubber compounds.
Brabender MT-CA measures the moisture content of polymer and other material samples according to the principle of heat drying in moving air. The weight loss of the sample material resulting from the drying process is determined.
The Brabender Winder winds extruded round or elastic hoses on bobbins. As a downstream device, it can be integrated into any small-scale extruder process and used for various applications, e.g. in prod-uct development, production or production simulation as well as in quality analysis. The use of the Brabender Winder in fila-ment production as a printing material for 3D printing has proved particularly successful. Especially the modular, compact design of the winder convinces with variations of belt or haul take-off and holders for different bobbin types.
